Welcome to the Summer Specials page for public radio stations.

A demo of the Summer Specials CD is now available.
The two-hour specials hosted and produced by Dmae Roberts, with assistance by Sara Kolbet, will include two one-hour specials:
Heart of Nature and Growing Up, Growing Strong.
The first one-hour special, Heart of Nature, follows the lives of young people with disabilities exploring their world.
The second one-hour special, Growing Up, Growing Strong, features young women with strength and daring.
The two one-hour CDs will be available to public radio stations starting in May.

There is no charge for the use of Stories1st programs by public radio stations during summer of 2003. Stations must notify us of air dates and times prior to usage and either air or read appropropriate credit.
The format of these stories is highly flexible and can be aired as:
- individual modules
- two one-hours
- four half-hours
- a two-hour special

Horse Therapy

At riding stables across the country, kids with disabilities working with horses in a new kind of therapy that's both physical and emotional.
There are about 650 riding centers in the U.S. and Canada that offer therapeutic horse riding to more than 30,000 people with disabilities.
One such rider is eight-year-old Grace Kurlycheck who rides her horse Dove at Ride-Able in Eugene, Oregon.
